OUR PHILOSOPHY

I created City Twirlers to be able to introduce and teach children the sport of baton twirling.  It is a platform that enables me to share with them and help them benefit from the sport the way I did. It was the love for the sport that I grew up with, and the wonderful memories that were created during my experiences that inspired me to start my own group in New York City.

I am inspired by my students.  City Twirlers is so much more than learning how to twirl a baton. My students learn about teamwork, dedication, compassion and encouragement towards each other and fellow competitors, while building friendships and confidence.

Performing in front of a large crowd can be intimidating for anyone at any age. Twirlers learn to perform with confidence even as early as the age of 3, and I am always so proud of the courage my students display and develop with each performance.  It’s not about the competitive placement or the difficulty levels, it’s about the journey and the transformation into a confident athletic performer and person.

Twirlers start off each lesson with a mini yoga session.  It was my students who inspired me to incorporate my yoga practice into the twirling lessons.  As a matter of fact, they were my inspiration to further my practice and become a certified yoga teacher.  I really love teaching baton twirling and to be able to also share my love for yoga with all my students has become the actualization of my motto, and life mission, which is to “spread love, peace, happiness and harmony”.
